Advocacy is one of our top priorities at Bikesport. We are very active in both our local and national cycling communities. Please take a minute to learn about the causes we support and the organizations who represent them.
Bikesport supports organizations like this:
|Bicycle Access Council - The Bicycle Access Council supports cyclist commuters and road riders. They work to keep road cycling in Pennsylvania safe as well as promote cycling as a sport and mode of transportation. Our association with the BAC allows us to be involved in locally educating cyclists and ensure safe riding on our Pennsylvania streets and roads.
|National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) - Our membership with the NBDA helps us to keep current in the industry. They offer us seminars and events that prepare us for changes in the cycling and retail worlds.
|Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia - Because the Greater Philadelphia is rapidly becoming a more bicycle friendly region, it is important for us to participate in helping this movement along. The Coalition educates cyclists about commuting (particularly within the city) and local cycling events.
People for Bikes - PeopleForBikes is the leading movement to improve bicycling in the U.S. By collaborating with millions of individual riders, businesses, community leaders, and elected officials, we’re uniting Americans to boost bicycling on a national level for results that can be seen locally. Visit www.http://www.peopleforbikes.org/
People for Bikes is the largest bicycle advocacy group in the country. Please go to the website above and see what they've done for all of us - and sign their petition right away!
|International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) - IMBA is an international MTB advocacy organization. They sponsor and organize mountain biking events and promote the industry. They raise money for and maintain trails. They even offer Mountain Biking Insurance for individual members!
|Pennsylvania Trailhands (PaTH) - PaTH works to make PA trails and parks safer and better places to ride your bike. They clean up and push for more trails. They are one of the main reasons that we have so many wonderful local trails.
|Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce - We try to be very locally involved. Supporting local businesses is something that we do as much as we can because creating a safe a caring community is very important to us. Visit http://www.pvchamber.net/|
|Trappe Business Association - Trappe Business Association (TBA) is a non-profit group of small busienss owners in Trappe, Pennsylvania with a shared goal of supporting and encouraging local business success and sustainable economic growth. TBA's mission is to serve all forms of businesses including service, retail and non-profit through a close relationship with local government, Trappe Today and Tomorrow (TTT), as well as the community at large. Visit http://www.trappebusinessassociation.org/|
|Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association - Founded in 1990, GVF is a not-for-profit organization created to advocate and promote a viable transportation network for the region's economic vitality.
Communities in Motion
The mission of Communities in Motion, a GVF TMA Foundation, is to build awareness and support for efficient and sustainable transportation in southeastern Pennsylvania through education and community outreach. Visit http://www.movingyou.org
|National M.S. Society - One of our biggest events of the year is the MS 150 City to Shore Bike tour. We have been an official bike shop sponsor for 17 years. Hundreds of our customers participate in this ride every year. They love seeing our "sagwagon" on the course offering assistance to riders when needed. Visit www.nationalmssociety.org|
|Pedals for Progress - Bikesport supports a local collection held each spring by the Norristown Rotary Club for Pedals for Progress, an organization that collects used bikes and ships them to other countries, where cycling is a main mode of transportation, but bikes are rare. Visit www.p4p.org||
|PA Rails to Trails Conservancy - We have been big supporters of the Rails to Trails project because we have been fortunate enough to put the Perkiomen Trail to good use. The trail runs right through our community and connects us with the Valley Forge and Schuylkill River trails. The trail makes it possible for cyclists to ride safely for pleasure or to commute to their jobs. Visit www.railstotrails.org|
