Advocacy

At Bikesport, we try to stay current and active with local and regional bike advocacy groups.

As a Trek dealer, we are pleased to announce that Trek is the leader when it comes to major bicycle manufacturers who actively promote advocacy.  For every helmet Trek sells, a dollar is donated to Bikes Belong, an organization that
strives to put more people on bikes more often by implementing new laws
that favor cycling as a means of transportation and fitness.  For every full suspension mountain bike sold by Trek, $10 is donated to IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association).  IMBA has opened many new mountain biking trails this past year with Trek's help, including some in the Philadelphia area.
Bikesport has agreed to do the same for the upcoming year.

We are members of several bicycle advocacy groups.  To find out more about these groups, click here!

Bikesport also sponsors many local groups and events.  For a list of these organizations, click here!

We're also advocates of enabling others to rely on bicycles as means of transportation and also as a way to start a new vocation and bring a new quality of life to individuals and  families in developing nations.  That's why we encourage you to read about an organization that holds a special place in our hearts.  Consider donating your used bike to this endeavor:

If you have one ore more used bikes taking up space in your garage, another option for getting rid of them is to donate them to Pedals 4 Progress, an organization that collects unwanted bikes and ships them to other countries, where cycling is their only mode of transportation!  Bikesport will be having a collection for P4P on Saturday, November 21st, 2010.  The donation of a bicycle also requires a small monetary donation, but just think.... donating your used bike to a family in need is like giving them the gift of a minivan!
